Pursuing Maximum Employment and Inflation Stability

The Committee's primary goal is to achieve maximum employment and maintain a 2 percent inflation rate in the long run. The Committee believes that the risks to achieving these goals are gradually becoming more balanced. However, due to the uncertain economic outlook, the Committee remains vigilant regarding inflation risks.

Target Range for Federal Funds Rate

To support its objectives, the Committee has decided to maintain the target range for the federal funds rate at 5-1/4 to 5-1/2 percent.
