Most stocks in the Asia-Pacific region experienced increases on Tuesday, Feb. 6. However, there were also some declines observed in certain markets.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong stocks showed positive momentum, with the Hang Seng Index (HK:HSI) rising by 4.0% to reach 16,136.87. Among the constituents of the Hang Seng Index, real estate services/transactions company Longfor Group Holdings (HK:960) stood out with the largest increase, as shares jumped by 10.1%. Property managers firm Country Garden Svcs (HK:6098) and pharmaceuticals company Hansoh Pharmaceutical (HK:3692) also saw significant gains of 10.0% and 9.6% respectively. On the other hand, diversified holding companies company CK Infrastructure Hldgs (HK:1038) experienced a decline of 1.7% on Tuesday, marking the largest decrease in Hong Kong. Integrated oil/gas firm PetroChina (HK:857) and gambling industries company Galaxy Entertainment Grp (HK:27) also saw slight decreases of 0.3% and 0.1% respectively.

Japan

The Nikkei 225 Index (JP:NIK) in Japan weakened slightly by 0.5% to reach 36,160.66. However, there were still some notable increases among its constituents. Construction company Mitsubishi Heavy Inds (JP:7011) saw the largest increase, with shares rising by 6.4%. Likewise, passive components firm Nippon Electric Glass (JP:5214) and aquaculture company Nissui (JP:1332) experienced gains of 5.9% and 5.6% respectively. Unfortunately, environmental control systems company Omron (JP:6645) saw the largest decline on Tuesday, as shares plunged by 15.3%. Steel production firm Pacific Metals (JP:5541) and couriers/messengers company Yamato Holdings (JP:9064) also faced declines of 10.1% and 7.3% respectively.

Other Markets

The Shanghai Composite Index (CN:SHCOMP) in China witnessed a rise of 3.2% to reach 2,789.49, while Singapore's FTSE Straits Times Index (SG:STI) weakened slightly by 0.1% to reach 3,130.78. Similarly, South Korea's KOSPI Composite Index (KR:180721) experienced a decline of 0.6% to reach 2,576.20. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 Benchmark Index (AU:XJO) also dropped by 0.6% to reach 7,581.60.
