U.S. Futures
At the moment, U.S. futures for the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average are both down 0.2%. It's important to note that changes in futures may not accurately reflect movements post the opening bell.
European Markets
Over in Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 saw a modest 0.2% increase in morning trading. Notable movers include Haleon rising by 7.1% and Drax Group adding 6.7%. Conversely, Aixtron slipped by 18.1% and SES sank by 5.6%. The FTSE 100 also showed a positive trend, adding 0.3%.
Stocks in individual European markets also performed well, with France's CAC 40 increasing by 0.2% and Germany's DAX climbing by 0.2%.
Currency Update
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index experienced a slight 0.2% drop, now standing at 98.44.
Commodity Prices
- Brent Crude: Decreased by 0.5% to $81.73 per barrel
- WTI Crude: Dropped by 0.4% to $78.19 per barrel
- TTF: The Dutch futures contract for natural gas was down by 2.8%
Fixed Income
The German 10-year Bund yield saw a slight increase of 1 basis point to 2.469% from 2.458%, while the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 2 basis points to 4.284% from 4.266%. Keep in mind that bond prices and yields have an inverse relationship.
Asian Markets
Stocks in Asia displayed mixed results with Japan's Nikkei 225 index falling by 0.1% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng declining by 0.2%. On the other hand, China's benchmark Shanghai Composite saw a significant gain of 1.9%.
